All of my pieces are handmade and one-of-a-kind. They are rustically elegant. Many of the tins and objects I use are antique and show signs of wear and tear. In my opinion, it just adds to the beauty of the piece, which has had a history. The brooch is 4.75 inches long and measures 2 inches at the widest part. The ruler is metal, not wood like the one I remember.
This is one in a series of Father-Daughter Brooches. I call them that because as a child I used to get to "help" my father build and make things. I loved the wooden folding ruler at first sight. I loved to play with it and use it when helping Dad. The first thing I remember us making was a wood table for the wharf where my Mom could sit and pick crabs while we swam in The Bay. I cherish these childhood memories and I cherish them even more now that Dad is gone.
Tins and collecting them bring back happy memories. I love using tin boxes in my work, giving them a new life in a one-of-a-kind jewelry piece that you will (hopefully) love and enjoy wearing for many years to come.
All of my pieces come wrapped in a box. If you are buying them as a gift for someone I can ship to them and add a gift card. Thank you for looking! I am also happy to take requests for different color combinations so feel free to contact me.
