This one of a kind pendant is a collaboration between myself and my husband, ceramic artist Matt Repsher of Repsher Ceramics. The "stone" is mid-range stoneware with a blue engobe or slip. It is set in Sterling Silver on a 24" Sterling Silver chain. The pendant measures 1.25 inches across.
This is one of my favorite collaborations we have done with the single ring on the chain symbolizing our materials, our work as becoming one.
I chose the "screen" texture for the back because I have very fond memories of spending summers at the beach with the windows open with only the screen between me and the Gulf. I loved smelling the salt water and hearing the waves. I felt one with my surroundings. Being at the beach was always my favorite place to be.
I put a little window on the back to see through to the red clay. The red clay is very much like the clay that is found where I grew up on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay. I have fond memories of playing at "Clay Mountain" on the cliffs of Ecor Rouge.
