All of my pieces are handmade one-of-a-kind. Many of the tins I use are antique and show signs of wear and tear. I think it adds to the beauty of the piece, which has had a history. The tin flowers are approximately 1" in diameter. They are hung on 20 gauge sterling silver ear wires and hang down approximately 1.5".
These flowers are made from an antique Prince Albert tin. As a child, I watched some old television shows. I'm not sure exactly on which show I saw it, I think it was the Little Rascals, there was a joke where a person would say, "Do you have Prince Albert in a can?" and the shopkeeper/person would say "Yes" and they'd say "You better let him out" then there would be a lot of laughter. I once asked my Mom about this joke and she explained that Prince Albert was a smoking tobacco that came in a can. I had never seen it and I didn't know what smoking tobacco was in those days so it didn't make sense to me. Many years later when I saw the tin it finally all made sense. I have collected many Prince Albert tins over the years, mostly the small, pocket-size ones. This particular one though was large, coffee can size. I love those because the yellow font is bigger, there is so much more material and it is a really beautiful red.
Tins and collecting them bring back sweet memories. I love using the printed tin in my work, giving it a new life in a one-of-a-kind jewelry piece that you will love and enjoy wearing for many years to come.
All of my earrings come wrapped in a little box. If you are buying them as a gift for someone I can ship to them and add a gift card. Thank you for looking! I am also happy to take requests for different color combinations so feel free to contact me.
