All of my pieces are handmade and one-of-a-kind. They are rustically elegant. Many of the tins I use are antique and show signs of wear and tear. In my opinion, it just adds to the beauty of the piece, which has had a history. The tin flowers are approximately 1" in diameter. They are hung on 20 gauge sterling silver ear wires and hang down approximately 1.5".
This particular tin I did not see until I was an adult. I was living in Santa Fe and visiting North Carolina with a friend who loved to go to Thrift and Antique Shops and coincidentally so did I. On that trip we did some serious shopping. I had sort of stopped collecting tins because I had accumulated so many and was running out of room for them but when I saw this one I couldn’t resist. The blue color was such a good blue. It was a beautiful vintage blue and the font of the writing on it was also beautiful. The scrolls of each letter added a very fancy quality to the box which had been a tobacco tin. The brand was Edgeworth and the tobacco was from Virginia. At this point in my life I had never seen tobacco tins. On this trip, being in the southeast, I saw many of them. I bought the Edgeworth tin that day and added a whole new category to my collection.
Tins and collecting them bring back happy memories. I love using tin boxes in my work, giving them a new life in a one-of-a-kind jewelry piece that hopefully you will love and enjoy wearing for many years to come.
All of my earrings come wrapped in little box. If you are buying them as a gift for someone I can ship to them and add a gift card. Thank you for looking! I am also happy to take requests for different color combinations so feel free to contact me.
