All of my pieces are handmade and one-of-a-kind. They are rustically elegant. Many of the tins I use are antique and show signs of wear and tear. I think it just. adds to the beauty of the piece, which has had a history. These earrings are made of steel wire with a patina and the flower is made of tin (printed steel). The wires are approximately 2.5 inches long. The flower is 0.5 inches across. The leaver back earwires are sterling silver. The earrings are very light and easy to wear.
I collected this tin the first time I came to Penland School of Craft (7years ago) to take a jewelry class. It was a steel jewelry class and we learned some techniques to work with tin. Our class went on a field trip to downtown Spruce Pine (where my studio is currently) and i found this Donniford Pipe Tobacco tin. It was large and such a good red with lots of nice white font.
The earrings come wrapped in sweet little box. If you are buying them as a gift for someone I can ship to them and add a gift card. Thank you for looking! And I am happy to take requests for different color combinations and/or lengths so feel free to contact me.
Tins are such a sweet memory of my childhood and of my travels. I love using them in my work, giving them a new life in a one-of-a-kind jewelry piece that you will love and wear for many years to come.
