Asymmetrical Mother of Pearl Earrings
Asymmetrical Mother of Pearl Earrings
These two asymmetrical (or non-matching) Mother of Pearl Trading Coin pieces are set in Sterling Silver with a linen texture on the back and hang on Sterling Silver ear wires. They are 2.25-2.5 inches long. They are 0.75 inches wide.
These particular pieces are called gaming counters, poker chips, or trading coins. They were produced between 1700 and 1840 primarily by China for trade with Great Britain. The counters were used for scoring and bidding in card games, and became a popular trade item among European elites because they were expensive to obtain.
Mother of Pearl is a shell. It comes from the inside of mollusk shells.
It is my wish that when worn these earrings will remind you of all things beachy - shells, sand, breeze, waves, walks, and most of all CALM.
